MONDAYS April 14th, 28th NAMI aka The National Alliance on Mental Illness offers a confidential peer-led support group free of charge for adults. NAMI-trained facilitators lead the group and focus is placed on empathy, a sense of community and productive discussion. Both meetings are scheduled to begin at 6:00 and end at 7:30 p.m. Meetings are held in the Konnie room and those in attendance are asked to enter through the side door. WEDNESDAYS April 2nd Ridge Readers Book Club – This month’s selection is Lost & Found Bookshop by Susan Wiggs . Read the book, then join in a lively discussion in the Conference Room. 1:15 – 3:00 p.m. Newcomers welcome. April 9th, 30th Hobby Hangout – Attention artists, crafters, makers, gamers, builders, thinkers, and other creative people. Bring your stuff and hang out with us while you work on your hobby. We also have plenty of free materials and tools to use and plenty of space to do your thing. No expectations, no stress, just a place to chill with cool people. And snacks! 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. April 16th Advance Care Directives Who, what, where, when? Let’s go over the paperwork , ask questions, and get it all organized. You can pick up the form at the library, download it from the Oregon.gov website or get it the day of the presentation. An Advanced Directive assures you that your end-of-life choices are made known to your loved ones and healthcare providers. Deanna English, End of Life Doula, will go over what this means, and how it might change as you age. 5:30-6:30 in the Konnie Room. THURSDAYS April 3rd,17th Walk & Talk meets up every Thursday morning in the courtyard at 9:00 a.m. and participants then go for a walk that ends at 10:00 a.m. A path is chosen as is a pace and discussion centers on what those in attendance are currently reading and the neighborhood. This is an easy stroll that is accessible to all, and all are welcome. March 10th Sci-Fi/Fantasy Book Club: Time Loops & Travel Time For this meeting, read any Sci-Fi or Fantasy book about travel or time loops and come prepared to talk about your selection. 4:00 – 5:30 in the Conference Room. FRIDAYS April 11th, 25th Ridge Writers - Adults, if you love to write, then this is the group for you. There will be time to write from a prompt, and also critique. Library programs aren’t just for adults. At Fern Ridge Library, there is plenty for kids from preschool through high school to enjoy. Clubs, crafts, stories, it’s all there. TUESDAY April 1st, 15th, 20th Daisy Sing and Sign Sing and Sign is a fun environment to interact with other families through singing and dancing together. Classes are best for 0–5-year-olds and are structured to encourage the use of early sign language, kindergarten readiness, body movement and rhythm exploration. 11:00 This program runs for approximately 30 minutes and is followed by Nursing Nook at 11:45 a.m. April 8th Elementary Explorers LEGO Club – A program for kids’ kindergarten through fifth grade that focuses on ingenuity and creativity. At LEGO Club children are challenged to build to a theme and work on developing the following skills – teamwork & communication, patience & organization, constructive problem solving & lateral thinking, fine motor skills, spatial awareness, focus & concentration. This month’s challenge is to create Lego mansions! 3:30 p.m. in the Konnie Room April 29th Elementary Explorers Read to a Dog is a program for kids kindergarten through fifth grade that focuses on reading confidence and fluency. A Read to a Dog, children are invited to read to a therapy and R.E.A.D. certified dogs. Reading to a dog is a great way for children to build confidence because animals don’t mind if you mispronounce a word, or miss a sentence; the dogs just love to hear them. Confident readers pick up more books and the more a child reads, the better their fluency and comprehension. 3:30 p.m. in the Konnie Room. Runs for approximately 1 hour. FRIDAYS April 4th, 18st Storytime - Storytime is a program for preschool children ages 0-5, with a focus on pre-literacy skills. At Storytime there are fun songs, there is dancing, art projects, and work on letter recognition, practice writing and reading awesome stories. September themes will be school related. Starts at 11:00 a.m. April 11th, 25th Combo Middle School & High School Programs in February Teen Scene is a program that is designed for teens in grades 6th – 12th that focuses on socialization, reading, S.T.E.A.M., and crafting. Teen Scene programs have all been planned by the Teen Advisory Board. In March, the Teen Scene programs will be Crafternoon, D&D, D&D, and Trivia Night. 4:00 p.m. in the Konnie Room. Runs for approximately 2 hours. April 18th, 25th Weekly Family Circle Well Mama is a non-profit organization that offers mental health support services for parents and caregivers with peer-to-peer support specialists. Join us as Well Mama leads us through family activities, provides snacks, and free baby supplies. 4:30 p.m. This program runs for approximately 1.5 hours. SATURDAYS April 19th Middle/High School Dungeons & Dragons meets from 12:00 – 2:00 p.m.
